Subway: My Upcoming Board Game Adventure
My next board game draws inspiration from three classics: Carcassonne, Dune (1978), and Dungeon Quest (1987). While these titles sparked my creativity, the vision was clear—to implement a customizable labyrinth built with random tiles but elevate the concept to a whole new level. To make it stand apart, I chose to avoid typical fantasy or magical elements. Instead, I plunged my characters into the gritty, treacherous depths of a subway system, which unlocked a world of unique challenges and nuanced gameplay.A Subway Like No Other
The game’s mechanics are designed to offer players an immersive, dynamic experience:Customizable Subway Tunnels: Players work together—or compete—to build an intricate network of subway tunnels using a sophisticated tile system. This creates endless variations for each playthrough.
Interactive Train System: A constantly circling train weaves through the tunnels, connecting stations. This unpredictable element adds a layer of strategy and random interaction that keeps players on their toes.
The Objective: Survival in the Depths
The ultimate goal? Survive the unforgiving tunnels before the entire subway floods. Players must navigate the maze’s dark corners, looting hidden treasures while facing increasingly dangerous challenges the deeper they delve. The tension builds as time runs out, forcing strategic decisions and cooperation—or betrayal—to escape the disaster.A Work in Progress
This game is still evolving, much like the labyrinth it’s based on. As with any exciting experiment, new features are continuously being developed and refined. From inventive mechanics to surprising challenges, the adventure is far from over. Every step of the process brings fresh ideas and opportunities to make this experience truly unique.Stay tuned for updates as the subway comes to life—complete with its lurking dangers, dynamic systems, and immersive gameplay!
